About SignalRGB
We're on a mission to unify the fragmented world of RGB â and we're just getting started.
SignalRGB is the world's leading RGB control platform, trusted by over 3 million registered users across 5,000+ supported devices. Built by gamers for gamers, we sit at the intersection of PC hardware, software engineering, and creative expression.
We're building the connective tissue between every RGB-enabled device on earth. As we evolve toward Signal Suite â the "Adobe Creative Suite for PC Enthusiasts" â the speed, quality, and scalability of our hardware integrations has never mattered more.
The Role
We're looking for an Integrated Solutions Engineer who specializes in hardware protocol analysis and device integration.
This is not a traditional software role. You'll reverse engineer proprietary protocols, build and maintain device plugins, validate firmware behavior, and ensure seamless interoperability across a rapidly growing ecosystem of PC hardware.
You'll also help improve the internal tooling and automation systems that allow us to integrate devices faster over time. Our goal is not just to ship integrations â it's to continuously improve how integrations are built.
This role reports to the CTO and works closely with the Integration Engineering team.
What You'll Do
Hardware Integration & Reverse Engineering
- Analyze and reverse engineer USB-HID, serial, and proprietary RGB protocols from gaming peripherals, motherboards, GPUs, and other PC hardware
- Use tools like Wireshark, USBPcap, HxD, USB Monitor, and custom scripts to inspect and decode device behavior
- Develop, test, and maintain SignalRGB JavaScript plugins for new and legacy hardware across brands including Corsair, Razer, ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, NZXT, and more
- Validate device behavior across firmware versions and edge-case configurations
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration bugs and regressions
- Collaborate with hardware OEMs and system integrators to accelerate official integrations where possible
Integration Tooling & Automation
- Design and build AI-assisted workflows that accelerate protocol analysis, plugin scaffolding, and integration testing â dramatically reducing time-to-support for new devices
- Leverage LLM-based tooling (e.g., Claude, GPT-4, Copilot) and lightweight automation agents to automate repetitive integration tasks, generate test coverage, and surface anomalies in protocol behavior
- Contribute to and improve internal automation pipelines for regression testing of existing plugins at scale
- Document AI-augmented integration methodologies and contribute to the team's evolving playbook
Quality, Testing & Documentation
- Develop structured test plans covering lighting modes, real-time sync behavior, firmware compatibility, and edge cases
- Maintain integration documentation, protocol logs, and plugin changelogs
- Triage and resolve community-reported device issues
- Contribute to SignalRGB's open integration ecosystem and developer documentation
What Success Looks Like (First 6 Months)
- Independently ship integrations for new hardware devices
- Improve the reliability and maintainability of existing plugins
- Contribute meaningful improvements to integration tooling and testing workflows
- Reduce friction in the integration pipeline through better documentation and automation
What You Bring
Required
- 3+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on hardware integration, protocol analysis, embedded systems, or systems-level programming
- Demonstrated ability to reverse engineer USB-HID or serial communication protocols without vendor documentation
- Proficiency in JavaScript (our plugin language)
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python strongly preferred)
- Hands-on experience with protocol analysis tools (Wireshark, USBPcap, USB Monitor, Cheat Engine, etc.)
- Strong understanding of Windows-based hardware ecosystems
- Deep familiarity with PC gaming hardware platforms â you know the difference between iCUE, Armoury Crate, Synapse, and Dragon Center, and you have opinions about all of them
- Strong written communication skills and clear technical documentation habits
Strongly Preferred
- Familiarity with Windows internals, driver-level communication, or memory inspection tools
- Experience building internal engineering tools or automation frameworks
- Background in QA automation or test framework development
- Open-source contributions related to hardware/software integration or gaming utilities
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering workflows
Who You Are
- You're the person in your friend group who figures out how to make two devices work together that were never designed to â and then documents how you did it
- You enjoy digging into packet captures and firmware quirks
- You prefer solving systemic problems over applying one-off patches
- You care about the PC gaming community and take pride in supporting the hardware people actually use
- You default to reproducibility and maintainability â your integrations don't just work, they scale
Compensation & Benefits
- Remote-first with flexible hours â we care about output, not time zones
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k)
- Paid time off + company holidays
- Access to modern development tooling
- A team that genuinely loves what they build
Physical & Eligibility Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to receive and test physical hardware devices (home lab or designated workspace required)
- Occasional travel for industry events and OEM partner meetings
A Note on Culture
We're a remote-first team of engineers, designers, and gamers who care deeply about the craft. We move fast, document as we go, and help each other get unstuck.
If you've spent time in PC modding communities, contributed to open-source hardware projects, or built an absurdly over-engineered home lab â you'll feel right at home here.
SignalRGB is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
